THE ANNIVERSARY HOUSE

LandAmerica held a Ground Breaking Ceremony this summer to celebrate its 10th Habitat for Humanity house. Construction on the “Anniversary House,” the 250th house built in conjunction with the Richmond Habitat organization, began August 2nd. The 20th Anniversary Celebration for the Richmond Habitat Chapter featured LandAmerica as the sole presenting sponsor of Richmond Habitat for Humanity. A gala dinner ceremony, featuring NBC’s Today Show weatherman, Al Roker, as a guest speaker, was held to acknowledge the organization’s achievements.

The partnership with Richmond Habitat for Humanity has been one of shared interest. “We are excited about working with Richmond Habitat to help yet another local family achieve the American Dream of owning their own home,” said Helen Parham, Vice President – Corporate Relations at LandAmerica. The similar mission of Habitat for Humanity and LandAmerica to provide housing creates an even stronger bond and understanding between the two groups. “Promoting homeownership among our neighbors is a natural fit for us and supports one of our company’s Guiding Principles: Responsible Corporate Citizenship,” continued Parham.

LandAmerica hopes to encourage and inspire other Richmond area businesses and corporations to experience the thrill of helping local families own homes and live out the American Dream.

LandAmerica Shared Resources Center finds a new home in Henrico County

Henrico County is pleased to welcome Fortune 500 company, LandAmerica, to the Innsbrook Corporate Center. LandAmerica’s new Shared Resources Center (SRC) houses the 900-plus employees and contractors who support more than 13,000 employees around the world. The relocation of LandAmerica’s SRC required a site that would allow all necessary personnel to work on the same campus.

Other Fortune 500 companies, including Circuit City, Brink’s and Genworth Financial have already found a home in Henrico. The presence of strong corporate headquarters is one of the factors that encouraged LandAmerica to move to Henrico County. The addition of LandAmerica to Innsbrook further reinforces Henrico County as one of the greatest destinations for corporate relocation.

LandAmerica discussed the selection of the 297,000 square-foot Highwoods III facility as the site for its SRC with enthusiasm. “Henrico gets a gold star for accommodating our needs in every way possible, especially our permitting process during the construction phase. They understood the timeframes and worked with us to meet our deadlines. Their customer service was exceptional,” said Pam Cline, Senior Vice President – Corporate Resources. “Our search for a location encompassed all of Central Virginia. The size of the property met our requirements and allowed us to have all of our SRC on a single campus with room still to grow data center needs,” added Cline.

LandAmerica’s CEO, Ted Chandler, was confident that Henrico County would be the best place for the company to continue on its path of growth and success. “Our company has roots that go back to the 1870s, and we’ve been in Richmond since 1925. We believe that the Richmond metro area offers a great environment for LandAmerica to continue to grow,” said Chandler. He also recognized Innsbrook as an elite office park that would be able to satisfy all of LandAmerica’s relocation requirements. “An established, vibrant office park, Innsbrook has the infrastructure in place – including a superior power grid – to accommodate our data center that supports our corporate operations. We look forward to joining the Innsbrook Owners Association and contributing to the first class environment that exists in this community,” said Chandler. Innsbrook was able to provide enough space to accommodate LandAmerica’s growth projections for the next 10 years.

After surveying more than a score of sites, LandAmerica found everything it needed and more at Innsbrook. Convenient parking, close proximity to hotels, restaurants and highways, on-site cafeteria and meeting facilities and entertainment venues were all promising attributes of the Innsbrook location. Highwoods III offers a 134 percent increase in square-footage (from 127,000 at LandAmerica’s former SRC space, to 297,000), a 13 percent decrease in cost per square foot, 49 conference rooms, 28 huddle rooms, seven wellness rooms, eight multi-purpose rooms, one board room, eight total generators, and plenty of parking spaces. In addition, the new data center is better equipped to sustain systems and allow for system growth.
