MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATION

LandAmerica expends much effort and energy ensuring that the information circulating through the company is up-to-date. The corporation produces multiple publications that are constantly updated with financial information, features on new developments and news from upper management. Whether it is the annual video production Discover LandAmerica, the quarterly employee magazine Q (LandAmerica Quarterly), the weekly email publication This Week @ LandAmerica, or the regularly updated Corporate Communications website (LandAmericaNet), LandAmerica maximizes internal communication opportunities.

Q, the quarterly publication at LandAmerica, opens with a statement from CEO, Ted Chandler. The rest of the publication falls into highlighted sections including a full quarterly review, including industry updates, Q&A with LandAmerica employees, special features and employee spotlights. In the first quarter of 2006, Q focuses upon “working as one” and the unified presence of LandAmerica.

The weekly e-publication for employees called This Week @ LandAmerica offers articles concerning health and wellness, leadership, daily productivity and other life-related topics. One issue contained an article titled, “Five Keys to Effective Daily Living and Leading.” The article centered around leadership and learning at work and in daily life. LandAmerica produces this publication via company email and also utilizes the Internet, print and even video medias.

“We try to use every form of media possible so we can reach every employee,” said Lloyd Osgood, Senior Vice President – Corporate Communications. Osgood also describes LandAmerica’s publications as professional yet enjoyable to read.

Initially, company leaders had concerns about traffic in the Innsbrook area, but, after learning about the various public works projects occurring in and around the area, these congestion fears were allayed. Chandler explained, “While the campus is easily accessible by major thoroughfares, we were concerned about traffic congestion in the area. However…we learned that Henrico County has already approved five different improvement projects.” These traffic improvement projects include widening Nuckols Road by the I-295 exit, which will significantly ease traffic congestion around the Innsbrook area.

Bringing all of LandAmerica’s SRC personnel under one roof in the Henrico location allows LandAmerica to operate with more continuity on local, national and international levels.
